Knowledge management is an approach that seeks to add or create value by leveraging the know-how and experience within and outside of an organization (Ruggles 1998, p. 80). The usage of Knowledge Management (KM) in the improvement of Risk Management (RM) processes is a significant research area that has not been intensively addressed up to now (Alhawari et al. 2012, p. 50). Risk managers as well as core stakeholders who work in risk management could improve their capabilities and skills by applying a knowledge-based approach.
Objective: The project aims at reviewing the current literature on knowledge risk management along with its related theories in order to detect the gaps and future research areas with a focus on seaports.
Guidelines for the processing of the task:
Theoretical foundation on knowledge risk management and seaports
Identification, cleansing and preparation of relevant literature sources
Descriptive statistics of the extracted list of articles
Defining the main concepts and areas within the field of knowledge risk management
Detecting possible research gaps with a focus on seaports
Suggesting future research areas based on the results of the literature review
