The Institute of Business Logistics and General Management at Hamburg University of Technology participated in the 23rd Annual Conference of the Production and Operations Management Society in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. in April 2012.
Dr. Meike Schröder, Max Feser, and Henning Skirde presented latest research results of the Institute to an international audience. In addition, Doctor Meike Schroeder chaired a session with five presentations on Supply Chain Risk on Sunday afternoon.
The three representatives of the Institute used the conference to gather information about the latest trends and developments in the fields of Operations, Supply Chain Management, Risk Management and Sustainability.
Overall more than 1.200 attendants – representing academia as well as business – from over 45 countries participated in the POMS conference this year. Besides presentations about the guiding theme of POMS 2012 “Socially Responsible Operations”, various topics and research projects were presented and eagerly discussed in up to 20 parallel sessions.
Among the highlights of the conference were the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, where awards were given to members of POM Society, the plenary presentation of Edwin Keh (The Wharton School/University of Pennsylvania/USA, formerly COO and Senior Vice President of Wal-Mart Global Procurement), as well as the plenary session with Martin K. Starr (Rollins College/USA), Christopher S. Tang (UCLA/USA) and Luk van Wassenhove (Insead/France).
The 24th Annual Conference of POMS will take place in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.
